This innovative court specializes in quality-of-life offenses, including prostitution, illegal vending, graffiti/vandalism, shoplifting, and fare beating. Some critics feel that many so-called quality-of-life offenses are exaggerated in their effect to support wasting money on courts like this. Supporters of course disagree.

This Art Deco courthouse holds both the City Criminal court and County Supreme Court -Criminal division as well as the Office of the District Attorney.

The Supreme Court Criminal Court is housed in two separate buildings, 100 and 111 Centre Street. 111 Centre Street is on the southwest corner of Centre and White Streets. The Court is so busy it occupies 33 courtrooms in the 2 buildings.
